Freight Train Blues

I haven't posted here in a long time,
but who among us doesn't love an old bluesy song
about a freight train.
Especially when it is only 4 chords :)

D
I was born in Dixie in a boomer's shack
                              A7 D
Just a little old shanty by a railroad track

The humming of the drivers was my lullaby
                                      A7 D
And a freight train whistle taught me how to cry

I've got the freight train blues Lordy Lordy Lordy
                            E7 A7
Got 'em in the bottom of my rambling shoes
    D
And when that whistle blows I've gotta go
G D
Oh Lordy guess I'm never gonna lose
    A7 D
The freight train blues

Now my Pappy was a fireman and my Mammy dear
                            A7 D
Was the only daughter of an en-gineer

My sister married a brakeman and it ain't no joke
                                     A7 D
Now it's a shame the way she keeps a good man broke

I've got the freight train blues Lordy Lordy Lordy
                            E7 A7
Got 'em in the bottom of my rambling shoes
    D
And when that whistle blows I've gotta go
G D
Oh Lordy guess I'm never gonna lose
    A7 D
The freight train blues

Have great day, and keep on,
Strumming & Singing :)
Connie :)

    1. Sounds like he is no longer with you . . . I do hope to fill a need for beginners looking for easy songs to learn. Having a song in your heart can make a 90 year old feel young again . . . it is good medicine for the soul at any age. I can not count the times that I have chased away the blues by playing the blues, LOL.
