His Eye Is On The Sparrow ~ A Six Chord Song

His Eye Is On The Sparrow

G C G
Why should I feel discouraged why should the shadows come
E7 Am D7 G
Why should my heart be lonely and long for heaven and home
                            G7 C Am
When Jesus is my portion my constant friend is He
    D7 G D7 G
His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me
    G7 C G D7 G
His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me

  D7 G D7 G G7
I sing because I'm happy I sing because I'm free
    C G D7 C G D7 G
His eye is on the sp-ar-row and I know He watches me

                      C G
Whenever I am tempted whenever clouds arise
E7 Am D7 G
When songs give place to sighing when hope within me dies
                         G7 C Am
I draw the closer to Him from care He sets me free
    D7 G D7 G
His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me
    G7 C G D7 G
His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me

Repeat #2 x2

              C G C
And I know He watches I know He watches
  G D7 G
I know He watches me

  4. I've just decided to pay this blog a long overdue visit, Connie! It's great. How I wish I could hear you actually singing and playing the songs! I love the way you have decorated your guitar... perhaps I should do likewise on mine!! Perhaps some Zentangle? Lol! I love the words of this song. Do you know the Darlene Zscheck version? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omOStnS9tCM

  7. We enjoy this song. I have been thinking it would be a fun one to work on to play with my kids. We like to play bluegrass music together.

  8. Hi Connie! I don't have a guitar but have always wished I could play one. I believe your posts would help me play one! I have a piano but have to use a book. I used to play in church; now I'm a bit rusty.

  11. I too love this hymn but I have no musical talent. My grandmother played piano by ear as does my brother (bass guitar). I do write poetry however, so there's that.
