Freight Train Blues

I haven't posted here in a long time,
but who among us doesn't love an old bluesy song
about a freight train.
Especially when it is only 4 chords :)

D
I was born in Dixie in a boomer's shack
                              A7 D
Just a little old shanty by a railroad track

The humming of the drivers was my lullaby
                                      A7 D
And a freight train whistle taught me how to cry

I've got the freight train blues Lordy Lordy Lordy
                            E7 A7
Got 'em in the bottom of my rambling shoes
    D
And when that whistle blows I've gotta go
G D
Oh Lordy guess I'm never gonna lose
    A7 D
The freight train blues

Now my Pappy was a fireman and my Mammy dear
                            A7 D
Was the only daughter of an en-gineer

My sister married a brakeman and it ain't no joke
                                     A7 D
Now it's a shame the way she keeps a good man broke

I've got the freight train blues Lordy Lordy Lordy
                            E7 A7
Got 'em in the bottom of my rambling shoes
    D
And when that whistle blows I've gotta go
G D
Oh Lordy guess I'm never gonna lose
    A7 D
The freight train blues

Have great day, and keep on,
Strumming & Singing :)

The Wayward Wind ~ Four Chords

The Wayward Wind  ~ Four Chords

G                   G7            C
Oh the wayward wind is a restless wind
           G                   D7
A restless wind that yearns to wander
           G     G7          C
And he was born  the next of kin
            G          C       G
The next of kin to the wayward wind

In a lonely shack by a railroad track

He spent his younger days

And I guess the sound of the outward bound
D7                                G
Made him a slave to his wandering ways

repeat #1

Oh I met him there in a border town

He vowed we'd never part

Though he tried his best to settle down
D7                          G
Now I'm alone with a broken heart

  Keep Smiling,
Connie :)

Mama's Table ~ A Very Easy Three Chord Song

Mama's Table

Recorded by the Oak Ridge Boys

G                                          C

We pull a chair up every night and eat and talk and joke and fight

   D7                                      G

Us kids learned wrong from right at mama's table

                                                C

Just some hickory wood and screws it's where my daddy read the news

           D7                             G     C

You didn't put your dirty shoes on mama's table

           G                          C

It was the center of the best times I remember

    D7                                       G

Sometimes the only thing that brought us all together

                                       C

Grandma passed it down when I was in a cradle

     D7                                         G

It's in my kitchen now but it's still my mama's table

                                                C

It's where my brother and I played games I just knew he'd gone insane

    D7                               G

The day he carved his name in mama's table

                                           C

And when we got down on our luck it seemed like it held us up

    D7                                   G

You could always feel the love in mama's table

                              C

It was the center of the best times I remember

    D7                                       G

Sometimes the only thing that brought us all together

                                       C

Grandma passed it down when I was in a cradle

     D7                                         G     C

It's in my kitchen now but it's still my mama's table

            G

It has some faded spots and cracks

      C

And a couple of burns from candle wax

          D7                               G

There’s a memory in each scratch on mama's table

Bargain Store ~ A Two Chord Song

Bargain Store
written and recorded by Dolly Parton

Am              G              Am
My life is like unto a bargain store

                    G                   Am
And I may have just what you're looking for

                                        G              Am
If you don't mind the fact that all the merchandise is used

                  G                              Am
But with a little mending it could be as good as new

                          G               Am
Why you take for instance this old broken heart

                 G                   Am
If you will just replace the missing parts

                                   G              Am
You would be surprised to find how good it really is

                              G              Am
Take it and you never will be sorry that you did

                     G         Am
The bargain store is open come inside

        G                 Am
You can easily afford the price

                                 G       Am
Love is all you need to purchase all the merchandise

                              G          Am
And I can guarantee you'll be completely satisfied

                    G                 Am
Take these old used memories from the past

                            G                 Am
And these broken dreams and plans that didn't last

                                     G        Am
I'll trade them for a future I can't use them anymore

                     G                 Am
I've wasted love but I still have some more

                     G         Am
The bargain store is open come inside

                     G         Am
The bargain store is open come inside

Why Don't You Love Me ~ A Three Chord Song

Why Don't You Love Me~ revised from my last post.

by Hank Williams

G
Well Why Don't You Love Me like you used to do
                                                   D7
How come you treat me like a worn out shoe
       G                                      C
My hair's still curly and my eyes are still blue
G                                                        D7          G
Why Don't You Love Me Like You Used To Do

                      C
Ain't had no loving like a hugging and a kissing
               D7           G
In a long  long while

We don't get nearer or further or closer
                           D7
Than a country mile

      G
So, Why don't you spark me like you used to do
                                                         D7
And say sweet nothings like you used to coo
        G                                                       C
I'm the same old trouble that you've always been through
   G                                                          D7        G
So Why Don't You Love Me like you used to do

Well why don't you be just like you used to be
                                                 D7
How come you find so many faults with me
         G                                           C
Somebody's changed so let me give you a clue
G                                                       D7         G
Why Don't You Love Me like you used to do

                      C
Ain't had no loving like a hugging and a kissing
               D7           G
In a long  long while

We don't get nearer or further or closer
                           D7
Than a country mile

      G
So, Why don't you say the things you used to say
                                                       D7
What makes you treat me like a piece of clay
       G                                       C
My hair's still curly and my eyes are still blue
G                                                      D7         G
Why Don't You Love Me like you used to do

Have fun with this easy 3 chord song . . . Connie :)
