Nine To Five
written and recorded by Dolly Parton
D
Tumble outta bed and stumble to the kitchen
G
Pour myself a cup of ambition
D A7
Yawning and stretching and try to come to life
D
Jump in the shower and the blood starts pumping
G
Out on the street the traffic starts jumping
D A7 D
With folks like me on the job from nine to five
G
Working nine to five what a way to make a living
D
Barely getting by it's all taking and no giving
G
They just use your mind and they never give you credit
E7 A7
It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it
G
Nine to five for service and devotion
D
You would think that I would deserve a fair promotion
G
Want to move ahead but the boss won't seem to let me
E7 A7
I swear sometimes that man is out to get me
D
They let you dream just to watch 'em shatter
G
You're just a step on the bossman's ladder
D A7
But you got dreams he'll never take away
D
In the same boat with a lot of your friends
G
Waiting for the day your ship will come in
D A7 D
Then the tide's going to turn and it's all going to roll your way
G
Working nine to five what a way to make a living
D
Barely getting by it's all taking and no giving
G
They just use your mind and they never give you credit
E7 A7
It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it
G
Nine to five yeah they got you where they want you
D
There's a better life and you think about it don't you
G
It's a rich man's game no matter what they call it
E7 A7
And you spend your life putting money in his wallet
This is a fun song to sing and play
and it is only four easy chords.
So have some fun and keep a song in your heart.
It's hard to have a bad day if your singing.
Connie :)
I love that movie. I wish I could play a guitar Connie.
ReplyDeleteHi Beth, It is a fun movie . . . I taught myself to play three years ago. It is probably the easiest instrument to learn, or I could not have done it. Now I play and sing with our local Old Time Fiddlers group and at nursing homes around town. I'm an old dog that just learned a new trick. Have a great weekend, Connie :)
